I saw someone argue that C != C++. And that we should never say “C/C++”.

It is the year of our Lord 2025. We do not have flying cars, at least not in the sci-fi manner we were promised.

Life truly throws the greatest challenges to its strongest warriors.

Feedback is extremely important. But we, as humans, are very emotional and fallible.

What being sick taught me about test driven development: I was tested every day and driven to madness by the development of my health.

With the advent of AI, I have optimised my life immensely.

My best ideas? In the shower, and when I’m sick. So you can image the combo when I’m both!

Tiny update on my mission to embrace more European solutions over (mostly) US ones. Maybe some of the things here make someone curious.

“Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from AI.” Or something like that.

I did not start my PhD with the topic I eventually ended it with. I originally started it with the goal of creating some sort of AI agent that is able to act diplomatically in strategy games.

I have crunched the numbers. Every single company I worked at as a full time salaried employee became a unicorn within a couple of months after I joined.

Rant: I am very very very annoyed with a lot of people saying “oh, Europe doesn’t innovate. You should move to the US / UAE if you want to start a business. They tax you so little and there is nowhere near as much regulation.” and then, sometimes in the same paragraph, say “it’s so nice to spend time in Italy / France / Germany / Poland / Romania / etc, I feel so relaxed here. The roads are nice and the amenities are wonderful. Have you seen that really cool fountain in Rome?”.

Saw an ad on the tube today that said “Stop hiring humans. Hire AI artisans instead.”.

Intro # So let me talk to you about my first bit of work, the one that formed the basis for most of my PhD: Automated Game Balancing in Ms PacMan and StarCraft Using Evolutionary Algorithms from Evo 2017.

I realised I didn’t write much about my academic work in the past (beyond the actual, you know, publications). So let’s change that.

The following message is charged, and I truly don’t expect everyone to start making massive changes overnight. Heck, you might not agree with me at all and I welcome the conversation.
