Recently had the privilege of reading someone say “AI has so much power to direct how society thinks and acts. Look at Google Maps and how it encourages the use of a new orbital road! AI has been helping us for decades!”.
It’s called path-finding my friend. Cool algorithms existed long before the flavour of the hour became word prediction. Maps could encourage the use of said new orbital because it got added to the graph and it happens to be faster at that time of day.
We’re entering an era of “everything tech I don’t understand is AI”. And many will fall for grifters and many will be grifters (whether on purpose or not… eh). Stay safe out there and do share any other similar stories you encountered.
